Kids cost too much...

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, says that millions for contraception in the economic stimulus package will help save money by keeping the surplus population down.

For another alternative I suggest going here.

We had a discussion today. I prefer mine slow-cooked; a friend recommended a quick parboil. A tasteless third suggested deep-frying but was quickly shot down.

Better to cook and eat them than to use a condom?? Compassionate conservatism is still with us, I see.

No, it's not about compassionate conservatism but rather the idea that "surplus" children are a problem. As to the writings of Swift, perhaps you've heard of the concept of satire?

It's the same attitude today as it was then. The problems of the poor are related to their having children which then become a "burden" on society. Whether it was the British aristocracy of Swift's time or the political aristocracy of ours the answer always seems to be the same.

The ironic thing is that poverty in a culture is often a product of the children of the rich (it wasn't poor people who crashed this market) who then propose eliminating the poor to solve it.
